There are a lot of different types of people that you would be playing poker with. You may want to think about the best possible opponents there are. These are the types of people that you would want to play with. These are the most readable people you would meet and there are better chances of getting them off your table. However, you would not want to do that until you have won a considerable amount for a night playing poker.
The mathematician
People who play poker sometimes commit the gravest mistake by showing their “logical” way of playing the game. These are most of the black jack outcasts who made some heads turn by counting the cards. A very mathematically inclined mind could do it. The downside is that they tend to be predictable.
Their moves and facial expressions give them away. There is something in these types of people that makes one think that they never knew that poker is a game of strategy. The signals they show are so predictable that they react to even obvious card flow.
The drunkard
Most people have a tendency to drink while playing. It puts them at ease. Alcohol helps them relax and enjoy the game. The problem is that their moves are not that sharp. It looks like nobody told them that alcohol makes their judgment a bit dull. It is so subtle that they hardly even notice that their strategies become either impulsive or too obvious. It is a good thing that poker still is a game of chance. They sometimes take the sweep given a really strong hand to play.
Like the mathematician, their moves could be very predictable. Since alcohol dulls the senses, they tend to carry this air of rosy nostalgia even days after a night’s heavy drink. Some people still manage to get away with it but the risks are very high if one plays under the influence of alcohol.
The trigger happy
These are the hardest ones to bluff as one would not know if all the cards that they play are really good or not. They tend to call every raise and never change pace. They will suck you dry if they see that you are a bluffer. The vulnerability of these people lies in their bank roll. In a game where limitations as to funding are shown, they are the ones who show the most surprising signals than any other types of players. They are more on the side of poker that banks on it as a game of chance. The higher the stake the better chances of winning if they get to play good sets of cards frequently. There is no bluffing this type of player but you can easily see their game plan. They may fold once or twice but never on high stakes deals.
These are the types of people that you would want to be on your poker table. They have one thing in common. They all tend to give out their play easily and they are firm believers that they are playing a game of chance while playing poker.
